Virtual Therapy for Overwhelmed Millennial Moms of Young Kids in New York

Specialized support for moms in the Hudson Valley and beyond. Virtual therapy for overwhelmed moms of young kids who are ready to trade the constant 'survival mode' for calm, confident parenting.

Motherhood is everything you’ve ever wanted, but nothing you ever expected.

I’m Alex Quinn, a Hudson Valley mom of 2 and therapist. I support overwhelmed New York moms of young kids struggling with burnout and resentment, to parent more calmly and confidently, and reconnect with their partners and themselves.

Whether it be loss of identity, overwhelm, limited patience with your kids - or anything in between - I’m your therapist. I help moms embrace their new identity when they feel lost in motherhood, and release guilt and shame around needing support.

What sets me apart from other therapists?

Hey, I’m Alex. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW 092864 )

I’m a mom of 2 young kids, parenting without a village. After the birth of my firstborn, I struggled significantly adjusting to motherhood. I’ll admit… I missed my “old life.” I felt shame and guilt - I felt immature for feeling that way. I spiraled under the belief that I am taking my child for granted.

Then came the intrusive thoughts, the loss of self, the body image adjustments, the marital stress, and the disconnection from my friends without kids.

I felt alone on an island - and nothing causes more resentment than feeling alone when you are surrounded by people who don’t know how to help.

Bring your baby, bring your breast pump

Here, you are safe to be yourself. I like to describe my therapy style as “just two moms having a chat… sometimes over a cup of coffee.”

The luxury of doing therapy virtually with another mom? I will never judge you for folding laundry, enjoying a cup of coffee, nursing your infant, or yes, even pumping, during session. I’ve seen (and welcomed) all of it.

As a mom, I understand that time is limited and setting aside an hour for ourselves is tough. If this is your only time to tend to your other needs, by all means, use your hour however you need to. I’m here to support you in every way I can.

My Therapy Background:

I’ve been in the game for over 9 years, diagnosing and treating mental health disorders. I’ve worked with various populations ranging from juveniles in a non-secure detention center, to women in a domestic violence shelter, to families involved with Child Protective Services.

My clinical knowledge is extensive and I am confident that I can help you navigate all the unexpected twists that life may throw your way.

My experience in the field has allowed me to support individuals through various stages of life, so you can rest assured that even as your therapeutic needs change, I am here to guide and support you.

You may resonate with this…

  • Lying awake at night thinking about all the ways you “messed up” as a mom, today

  • Writing and re-writing mental lists that include everyone’s appointments, events, and deadlines

  • Looking in the mirror and feeling like you hardly recognize yourself

  • Resenting your partner for not being the “default parent” who carries half the responsibility you do

Motherhood is one of the most significant shifts you will experience.

You may feel stuck - like you’re drowning while trying to keep everyone else afloat.

Does this sound familiar? Then, we’re probably a good match.

HERE’S WHAT WILL CHANGE FOR YOU THROUGH OUR WORK TOGETHER:

  • You will be able to get the help you need without having to ask

  • You will gain confidence in your decision-making as a mother

  • You will begin to shift the focus back to yourself and shamelessly pour into your own cup

  • You will begin to recognize yourself again, and admire this new version of you that never existed before
